I've tried to find something better than adding files to Forum topics, but I can't.

I think we can make the Forums work for what you want.

What if I just create a new forum called "File Sharing"?

Inside this forum Topics can be started to group files. Replying to the topic and attaching the file to the reply will place a file in that topic.

I'm not sure what problem you are trying to solve. Let me know if you think this will work.

Alternatively, if you new what categories of documents you wanted to have, I could create subforums within the File Sharing Forum. Then postings within those subforums would contain individual files for the category.

This would be like the General Forum's subforums called Website Feedback and Meeting Notices.

The drawback to this approach is that if a new category of documents is wanted, then I need to create a new subforum. It can not be done on the fly the way topics can be created.

Sam - I create the File Sharing Forum to show you what I was trying to describe. It has a Sample File Category topic within it. The topic has three replies, each containing a file.

I think this will work once people understand it.

Here's an example. I have a powerpoint I want to share with Outreach members. It has some external file dependencies so I need to group all essential files together.

Now that I understand your specific requirement I can look into it.
